Welcome to our preschool rooms!
At Whiz Kids, we have 3 classrooms dedicated to our preschoolers. A preschooler may be placed in any one of the classrooms based on their age and development. Each child will move through our preschool areas as they grow and develop until they are ready to graduate and move on to Kindergarten.
Our Preschool A and Preschool B classrooms follow the The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, a comprehensive, research-based, and play-oriented framework for children ages 3-5. It focuses on whole-child development through hands-on discovery, project-based investigations, and intentional play to build foundational skills for kindergarten. Our Pre-K classroom uses the Heggerty phonemic awareness program to strengthen early reading readiness through structured and engaging daily lessons. Our Pre-K classroom also teaches the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Program to aid in a smooth transition the Bristol Public Schools program that utilizes the Heggerty Program. Across all rooms, children learn through play, discovery, and meaningful interaction, with a balance of structured activities and open-ended exploration to support growth in physical, social-emotional, and academic skills. Children also participate in provided enrichment programs in our center including Kindermusik®, the worlds leading research-based music and movement program for children from birth to age 7, and active learning in American Sign Language. All children also have access to our gross motor room, filled with mats and equipment to support active play and physical development.
Throughout the year, our preschoolers also enjoy a variety of special educational visits that make learning come alive. During events like Read Across America, The Cat in the Hat stops by to read to our classrooms, and during Community Helpers Week, we welcome local police officers, firefighters, and school bus drivers to teach children about their important roles. These visits spark curiosity, build real-world connections, and add excitement to our curriculum.
Preschoolers enjoy themed weeks, color days, and our Friday “Sharing Bag” activity, which builds language, confidence, and creativity. We also provide healthy snacks and daily rest time. Teachers in all preschool classrooms complete developmental assessments throughout the year to track progress and prepare each child for kindergarten readiness.
Preschool A
Our Preschool A classroom marks an exciting milestone—it’s where children first experience a true classroom environment. With a 10:1 ratio, this room introduces a more structured day, helping children adjust to following routines, participating in group activities, and working alongside their peers. Teachers support each child as they build independence, practice self-help skills, and learn how to navigate a classroom community. It’s the perfect setting for growing confidence and curiosity as they begin their preschool journey.
Preschool B
The Preschool B classroom builds on the foundation set in Preschool A, offering a smooth transition as children continue to grow and gain confidence. With slightly older students, lessons and activities begin to focus on more advanced early learning concepts, encouraging curiosity and problem-solving. Children further develop social skills, participate in theme-based projects, and continue exploring letters, numbers, and creative expression. This room helps bridge the gap between Preschool A and Pre-K, ensuring each child is prepared for the next step.
Pre-K
Our Pre-K classroom is designed to prepare children for a successful transition into kindergarten. This room mirrors a traditional classroom setting, emphasizing independence, responsibility, and academic readiness. Through the Creative Curriculum, children strengthen their literacy, math, and critical thinking skills, all while engaging in hands-on projects, circle time, and group activities. With a strong balance of structure and creativity, our Pre-K program ensures each child leaves confident, capable, and ready for the next chapter of their educational journey.
